Since its inception several years ago, Spoor & Fisher’s anti-counterfeiting unit has become a leader within the African Continent. It is the only anti-counterfeiting unit in South Africa with a dedicated investigating firm to assist in identifying perpetrators, conducting surveillance exercises, identifying counterfeiting activities and offering anti-counterfeiting enforcement. It also offers its services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Due to the size of the unit and the depth of experience of the team we are able to offer a seamless process from investigation to final civil and/or criminal prosecution. In addition, the unit offers the registration of trade marks and copyright with Customs & Excise, detention of containers and prosecution of counterfeiting matters against importers.
The anti-counterfeiting unit at Spoor & Fisher has developed expertise in all legal and practical aspects of counterfeiting. We believe that it is imperative to maintain an advanced level of knowledge of the growing counterfeiting problem and its sophisticated developments in order to combat this scourge. The unit has developed and is assisted by an extensive network of agents who are constantly observing activities in the market place for signs of counterfeiting activities. With significant documented successes the unit has reduced a number of clients’ anti-counterfeiting portfolios from as high as 30% to as low as 1% in a space of two years.
