Categories of Trade Marks:

There are provisions for the registration of DEFENSIVE, COLLECTIVE, CERTIFICATION and SERVICE MARKS.

There are no provisions for the registration of SERIES MARKS.

Classification:

The International Classification of goods and services applies.

A single application may cover any number of classes of goods and/or services.

Documents required:

A. New Applications:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • Priority document (if applicable), notarised and legalised, with verified Spanish translation.
  • 15 prints, except for word marks in ordinary type.

B. Renewals:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • 10 prints, except for word marks in ordinary type.

C. Assignments/Mergers:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • Deed of Assignment, notarised and legalised, with verified Spanish translation.

D. Change of Name:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • Certificate of Change of Name, notarised and legalised, with verified Spanish translation.

E. Change of Address:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • Certificate of Change of Address, notarised and legalised, with verified Spanish translation.

F. Licenses/Registered Users:

  • Power of Attorney, incorporating Spanish translation, simply signed.
  • License Agreement, notarised and legalised, with verified Spanish translation.
