Malawi: new IP laws to be announced

A Trade Marks Bill is to be presented to Malawi’s parliament. This new legislation will allow for a 10-year registration and renewal term, and it will give effect to the 11th edition of the Nice Classification. There are also plans for a new Patents Bill and this will make provision for utility models. An IP Policy document is also in the offing.
