Ghana - Amendments to the Trade Mark Law

On 25 July 2014, the Trademarks (Amendment) Act, 876 of 2014, came into force. This Act amended the existing Trademarks Act, 664 of 2004. The reason why we are only reporting on this now is that it seems to have been shrouded in secrecy – to the extent that even the Registry was unaware of its publication.

Madrid Protocol
The most noteworthy change is that the Madrid Protocol has now officially been incorporated into Ghanaian law.
